CD-Man v2.0

CD-Man Version 2.0 is an action maze game for MS-DOS, created by Swedish authors Atilla Biro and Anders Moree. It reimagines the classic Pac-Man formula, challenging players to navigate through mazes, collect dots, and avoid enemies. The game features five distinct worlds, each with unique layouts, enemies, and nicely drawn graphics in high-resolution EGA mode. A notable feature in Version 2.0 is the introduction of “The Snoofer” as the player character, a change from the character in version 1.5.

The main objective of CD-Man Version 2.0 is to navigate through various mazes, collecting all the dots while avoiding contact with enemies. Each level introduces new layouts and obstacles, with difficulty increasing as players progress through the five distinct worlds. These worlds feature varied aesthetics, such as a countryside with medieval ruins, a tropical sea, outer space, famous global landmarks, and a haunted lake.

The game also includes power-ups like speed boosts and temporary invincibility, adding strategic depth to the gameplay. Enemies in the game are diverse and change appearance in each world; for instance, police cars in one world transform into fire trucks when a power-up is activated. CD-Man Version 2.0 offers single-player and a “double mode” for two players.

The game is recognized for its colorful graphics and responsive controls, providing an engaging arcade experience. Players can adjust the game speed in the main menu, allowing for a customized difficulty level.
