Riot” is a shooting gallery game that places players in a third-person perspective, reminiscent of titles like “Cabal”. The core gameplay involves controlling a hero and a crosshair, utilizing two distinct fire buttons: one for enemies in the background and another for those in the foreground. Players must adapt to enemies appearing from both planes, including grunt soldiers, sword fighters, helicopters, and jeeps, across six rounds. The game’s setting progresses through diverse and increasingly surreal environments, from ruined cities and jungles to underground lairs, a moving train, and even a shopping mall. Power-ups, such as grenade launchers, flamethrowers, rapid fire, shotguns, health, or a 1-up, can be acquired by shooting flying red propeller bombs. Each round culminates in a boss battle, often featuring pop-culture inspired characters, which transports the fight to another dimension.
