The Lion King is a side-scrolling platform game that immerses players in the events of the film, controlling Simba through his journey from cub to adult. As a cub, Simba primarily defeats enemies by jumping on them and can use a roar, powered by a replenishable meter, to stun foes or solve puzzles. Midway through the game, players encounter a distinctive stampede level, requiring them to dodge wildebeest and rocks. In the latter half, Simba matures, gaining access to advanced combat moves like scratching, mauling, and throws. Throughout the game, Simba loses a life if his health depletes or he encounters instant-death obstacles. The game also features bonus stages starring Timon and Pumbaa, where players collect bugs for points and power-ups.
