Papa’s Pastaria is a restaurant management simulation game where players take charge of Papa Louie’s newest pasta establishment in the picturesque waterfront town of Portallini. The story begins with the player character, either Doan, Utah, or a custom-created worker, receiving an invitation to a wedding in Portallini. Upon trying to book a hotel, they discover the only available “room” is at Papa’s Pastaria, which comes with the unexpected responsibility of running the restaurant. The game tasks players with serving a diverse cast of customers, each with their own specific preferences for pasta dishes.
A round of Papa’s Pastaria involves a multi-step cooking process across various stations. Players greet customers and take their orders at the Order Station, noting desired pasta types, sauces, toppings, and side bread. Next, at the Cook Station, players boil the chosen pasta to perfection, stirring it and draining the water precisely to avoid over or undercooking. The Build Station is where sauces and toppings are added accurately to match the customer’s request. Finally, at the Bread Station, accompanying garlic bread is toasted. The goal is to prepare and serve each dish quickly and accurately to keep customers happy and earn good tips. As players progress through shifts and increase their restaurant rank, new customers, ingredients, and challenges are introduced, making the gameplay increasingly demanding.
The game features a dining room, a new addition to the series, where some customers prefer to be seated, requiring the player to manage an additional worker to take and deliver orders. After each day’s shift, players can participate in one of seven mini-games to earn prizes and tips, which can then be used to purchase upgrades for the restaurant. These upgrades can include decorative items to improve customer waiting times or equipment enhancements to streamline the food preparation process. Players can unlock new ingredients, special recipes, and earn stickers for completing various tasks and achievements. Mastering special recipes can also lead to bonus rewards.
