Papa’s Cupcakeria is a cooking and time-management simulation game where players manage a cupcake shop in the town of Frostfield. The story begins with Papa Louie and Roy getting into a car accident, and the player character, either James, Willow, or a custom-created worker, is hired to work at the Cupcakeria to pay off the damages. The goal is to impress customers with decorative cake-making skills and keep up with increasing daily orders.

A round of Papa’s Cupcakeria involves several stages, starting with taking customer orders at the Order Station. Next, at the Batter Station, players prepare the cupcake batter by dragging ingredients onto their silhouettes, then transferring them to a blender to mix. Once the batter is ready, it’s poured into cupcake molds. The molds are then moved to the Bake Station, where they are placed in the oven and cooked to perfection. Finally, at the Build Station, players decorate the cupcakes with frosting and sprinkles according to customer specifications. Customer satisfaction, based on accuracy and speed, determines the tips earned, which are crucial for progression. As the game advances, the volume of orders increases, and customer requests for frosting and toppings become more complex.

The game features various ways to enhance gameplay and manage the Cupcakeria. Players can use their earned tips to purchase upgrades for the shop, which can improve customer waiting times and streamline the food preparation process. These upgrades include items like a doorbell to alert new customers, oven boosters to speed up baking, and a frosting copier to duplicate designs. Additionally, after each work shift, players can engage in seven different mini-games to win prizes that can aid in the game. The game also introduces seasonal toppings and ingredients that unlock during different holidays throughout the year, adding variety to the menu. Players can customize their character and the shop’s lobby with furniture, flooring, and wall decorations.
