Released by Namco in 1992, *Lucky & Wild* is an arcade “drive ‘n shoot” game that blends first-person racing with light gun shooter mechanics. Players assume the roles of two buddy cops, Lucky and Wild, on a mission to apprehend six wanted criminals who are part of a narcotics syndicate led by “Big Cigar.” Player 1, Lucky, controls both the car’s steering and acceleration via a steering wheel and pedal, and also fires a gun. Player 2, Wild, focuses solely on shooting with a separate light gun. The game is characterized by its dynamic car chases, where players must shoot at enemy vehicles and henchmen, dodge projectiles and obstacles, and ultimately disable the boss’s getaway car before a timer runs out. A notable feature is the inclusion of humorous banter and expressive faces from the two cops, visible in the rearview mirror, adding to the game’s personality. Between stages, the duo visits the “Pink Cats Garage” for car repairs, where they are “entertained” by waitresses in cat-themed uniforms.
