Darius Gaiden – Silver Hawk Extra Version is a horizontal-scrolling shoot ’em up that places players in control of a Silver Hawk fighter to combat the Belsar empire, which is intent on destroying humanity’s new home world of Darius. The game features branching pathways across 28 stages, with enemies and bosses often resembling aquatic life. This “Extra Version” is an unofficial ROM hack that introduces several modifications, including rearranged levels, increased rapid-fire capabilities, and swapped bosses. A distinctive feature allows players to access an “all-stage mode” by initiating a game from the second player’s side, which removes path selection and requires completion of all 28 levels. The game also incorporates power-ups for main shots, bombs, and a shield, alongside the new Black Hole Bomb that clears the screen of enemies and projectiles.
