Outrun

OutRun is a pseudo-3D racing game where players drive a red Ferrari Testarossa convertible through vibrant European-inspired landscapes. The objective is to reach various checkpoints before a strict time limit expires, navigating twisting, hilly roads and avoiding civilian traffic. A notable feature is the branching path system, where players choose their next route at the end of each stage, leading to one of five different final destinations and varying difficulty levels. This mechanic, while not entirely new to racing games, was a distinctive element that contributed to the game’s immersive driving experience. The game also simulates basic traction loss, requiring careful braking on corners and proper gear shifting to maintain speed.
