Popcorn is an action puzzle game for MS-DOS, widely recognized as a “Breakout” clone. The core objective involves controlling a paddle at the bottom of the screen to bounce a ball and destroy all the bricks in each of the 50 levels. The game distinguishes itself with fast-paced gameplay, numerous power-ups and bonuses that drop from broken bricks, and the presence of monsters that roam the playfield, adding an unpredictable element to the ball’s trajectory. It also notably includes a level editor, allowing players to create their own custom stages. The game was designed to run on IBM PC compatibles with CGA graphics, specifically utilizing a 320×200 four-color mode.
